The Seven Bays of St Merryn

Mother Ivey’s Bay
Tucked away on the North Coast between Trevose Head and Stepper Point, Mother Ivey’s Bay is a stunning paradise ideal for a relaxing soak in the sea or sandcastles and sunbathing on the beach. While the waters are generally calm, and best suited to swimmers, paddle boarders, and the like, there is still a swell on windy days that will suit surfer beginners.
Booby’s Bay
Booby’s Bay is a small cove in north Cornwall, just south of Trevose Head and north of the beautiful sandy beach at Constantine Bay. Booby’s Bay is a fantastic place to go rock pooling. It’s a popular surfing beach for experienced surfers.
Trevone Bay
The north Cornish coast is only 5 minutes by car. Trevone Bay beach is a gently shelving, sandy beach surrounded by high cliffs, featuring the iconic Trevone Round Hole and the popular tidal pool. Trevone Bay was the winner of a Blue Flag Award and Seaside Award in 2024, which celebrates the commitment to environment, water quality, and safety of the beach.
Constantine Bay Beach
With a reputation as one of the best surfing beaches in Cornwall, Constantine Bay beach offers a sweeping arc of gently shelving soft pale sands as well as an abundance of rock pools to explore. Named after Saint Constantine, a 6th-century Cornish saint, this wide sandy beach is separated from its neighbour, Booby's Bay, to the north, by a thin rocky point, whilst Constantine Bay is bordered by a large rocky reef to the south and backed by a network of sand dunes. The quirky beach cafe is worthy of a visit also.
Porthcothan Bay
A fantastic large sandy beach with sand dunes backing into it. Perfect for sunbathing and a favourite with families. the beach opens out at low tide, connecting up with small coves to the north and south and at high tide the beach becomes very sheltered from swell and winds due to the cliffs. Perfect for swimming and board sports.
Harlyn Bay

Arguably one of the beaches for a family day out. Beautiful sandy beach, rock pools and caves to explore. Harlyn is again popular with surfers and offers credible surf.
Treyarnon Bay

A narrow but long sandy bay at low tide Treyarnon offers plenty to interest all age groups with an excellent rock pool and a natural pool which is big enough to swim in but which is only accessible at low tide. The headland at the end of the beach features an island (Trethias Island) which is completely separated from the mainland by a steep, deep gulley. It is not hard to see why Cornwall is one of the most beautiful parts of the UK if not the world.
St Merryn village is perfectly sized and has everything you would need within a two-minute walk. including a well-serviced grocery store, bakery, pubs and bars, restaurants and takeaways, an Ofsted-rated good primary school (2023) and a well-stocked petrol station.
